Proximity readers continuously transmit a low-level fixed radio frequency (RF) signal that provides energy to the card. When the card is held at a certain distance from the reader, the RF signal is absorbed by a small coil inside the card that powers up the card’s microchip which contains a unique identification code. Once powered, the card transmits the code to the reader. The whole process is completed in microseconds. The big advantage of proximity over other technologies lies in its simplicity. There are no moving parts, no mechanical wear, no slots, and no read heads to maintain.
Proximity cards are less prone to physical damage or loss, saving you money in reduced card replacement costs. Read ranges depend primarily on the reader. The larger the read range, the larger the reader’s concealed antenna and, hence, the size of the reader. There is a great variety of proximity readers designed for different environments including vandal resistant mullion mounts, smaller decor styles, and integrated keypad/reader units.
Attractive, compact, weatherized, and vandal-resistant, these readers are suitable for installation in a variety of environments. Compatible with dual-encoded 26-bit Wiegand and Kantech Extended Secure Format (XSF) proximity cards, these readers seamlessly integrate with access control systems including Kantech door controllers, Kantech Telephone Entry System (KTES) and EntraPass software.
ioProx cards and tags feature proven, reliable technology that seamlessly integrate with ioProx readers. Hand recognition geometry uses the shape of the hand to identify/verify the person. Both the HK-2 and the HK-CR (both models for indoor use only) use field-proven hand geometry technology that maps and verifies the size and shape of a person’s hand all in less than one second. . These solutions are perfect for one-door or an entire facility. The HK-CR is designed to work in conjunction with card based access control systems.
The Polaris-2 series provides the right combination of quality and reliability. A card can be swiped through the reader in both directions and the reader’s microprocessor automatically detects and rejects read errors. The reader has four different configurable output modes (26-bit Wiegand, 34-bit Wiegand, ABA-Clock & Data and ABA-Wiegand), so that readers can be installed on existing systems. The different output modes are obtained by connecting the proper wires during installation, to program the reader. The mode can be changed by simply powering the reader down and rewiring it for the new mode. The “*” push-button on the keypad of the POL-2KP is a dry contact with a 50 mA power rating. It can be connected to an alarm panel or to an intercom’s door call input, for example.

EntraPass demo software is the ideal way to demonstrate the exceptional features of EntraPass. Sample databases can also be downloaded to be used with the EntraPass demo software. The EntraPass demo software and databases can be used with both the KT-300 demo kit and the KT-400 demo kit to provide a complete access control experience. The demo kits can also be used to demonstrate the read range for ioProx readers as well as the ioProx card programming.
An electromagnetic lock securely prevents a door from opening without proper access credentials. Maglocks can be paired with switches to release the lock remotely and/or credential accessories that grant access at the door. These flexible solutions can easily fit the access procedures of new or retrofit security situations. When access is granted, the electrical current connected to the lock is paused and immediately releases the lock. An electromagnetic lock is naturally fail-safe. This provides peace of mind for operators that when power is turned off, such as during an emergency, the lock automatically releases to allow safe egress. The magnetic strength of Dormakaba’s RCI electromagnetic locks create a holding force of up to 1200 lbs. These features make RCI electromagnetic locks an ideal solution for low-risk security applications such as interior doors, rooms with specified access, storage closets, and staffed areas.
The MultiMag® series of electromagnetic locks are designed for easy installation and multi-purpose operation for interior or perimeter doors. The mounting bracket has keyhole mounting to support the magnet, freeing the installer's hands to affix the magnet mounting screws. The removable cavity cover offers quick and easy access to wiring. The RCI 8310 MultiMag® applies to single outswinging doors, while the RCI 8320 MultiMag® is for double outswinging doors. For additional security monitoring these electromagnetic locks offer optional door status & security condition sensors.
The IQ IntelliMag® series of electromagnetic locks recognize only their individually registered and encoded armature plate. This enhanced security feature prevents “tricking” the magnet, making it an excellent fit for high security applications. The RCI 8310-IQ IntelliMag® is used for single outswinging doors and the RCI 8320-IQ is used for double outswinging doors. The IQ Series built-in time delay for instant release fits the access procedures of a high security interior or perimeter entrance. Two independent relay outputs allow for local and/or remote indication of lock status and alarm status.
The DE8310 Delayed Egress all-in-one lock can detect when pressure is applied to a door and can be field selected with a release delay of 15 or 30 seconds. This perimeter door solution is unique in that there is no need to replace existing door hardware, making it an easy and affordable access solution. The RCI DE8310 includes an external alarm sounder, keyswitch for reset and override, and a building code sign for single outswinging doors. The RCI DE8310-S includes a built-in sounder rather than the external sounder in the base unit. This electromagnetic lock series can be monitored locally or remotely through relay outputs. It is ideal for applications requiring loss prevention, life safety, and traffic control.
The EW8310 Early Warning is designed to prevent break-ins as they occur and before thieves have a chance to gain access to perimeter doors. The RCI EW8310 maglock is equipped with a patented internal sensor that detects door movement on single outswinging doors. Attempted forced entry initiates an alarm response locally or remotely prior to the door being compromised. A built-in security condition sensor monitors and indicates that the door is closed, bonded, and that the electromagnetic lock is maintaining normal functions.
The 8360 Mortise MiniMag® is an ideal solution for a secure hold on sliding doors. This electromagnetic lock is low-profile. The brushed anodized aluminum finish blends with the sliding door aesthetic. The RCI 8360 Mortise MiniMag® can be monitored remotely with built-in lock status sensors and is backed by a lifetime limited warranty.
The compact 8365 Mortise MicroMag® is designed for securing small enclosures, cabinets, and sliding doors. This special low-profile lock has up to a 300lbf holding force. The RCI 8365 Mortise MicroMag® is a low energy consumption lock and is field-selectable at 12/24 VDC.
The Surface MiniMag® locks are designed with a 1-7/8” width to keep undersized openings within code. These locks are ideal solutions for traffic control on narrow-style interior or perimeter doors. The RCI 8371 Surface MiniMag® is for single outswinging doors. The RCI 8372 Surface MiniMag® is used for double outswinging doors without mullions. These electromagnetic locks install perfectly alongside most automatic door operators or stop-mounted door hardware. They reduce installation time and eliminate the need for extra brackets.
The 8375 Surface MicroMag® is uniquely small, measuring 6-17/32"W x 1-1/2"H x 13/16"D. This electromagnetic lock may be a compact design, but with a holding force of up to 300lbf it doesn’t lack strength. The RCI 8375 Surface MicroMag® is a secure locking solution for swinging doors on small enclosures.
The 8380 GateMag® is weather-resistant with a rugged, stainless steel housing. Making it an excellent solution for interior and exterior perimeter gates. The GateMag® electromagnetic lock features a built-in conduit fitting and an extra-long wire cable for easy wiring to an electrical box. Remote monitoring access is easy with the RCI 8380 GateMag®. It includes a built-in Remote Lock Status (RLS) that indicates whether the magnet is locked or unlocked.

The 171HD offers continuous monitoring capability for open/close status or attempted unauthorized entry. Electric strikes are intended for door security in commercial & industrial applications with heavy traffic that require access control systems. An electric strike is an electromechanical door locking device that works in conjunction with cylindrical locksets, mortise lockets, or rim exit devices. Electric strike plates are partially controlled by internal electronic mechanisms that releases the lock, while fixed strike plates only have mechanical workings.
RCI electric strikes, when paired with credential accessories, grant access at the door or can release the lock remotely with switches. This creates an integrated access control solution with the advantages of credential managed entry and the convenience of remote activation. When the electric release is activated, a hinge inside the electric strike will pivot to allow the door to be opened without operating the mechanical lock or turning the door handle. After the door is opened past the strike plate, it returns to the standard position and re-locks once the door closes.
Dormakaba has RCI electric strikes available in both fail-safe and fail-secure modes. The fail-safe configuration locks the door when the electric current is applied to the strike. With the fail-secure configuration the door is locked until an electric current is applied to unlock the door.
The 4 series centerline strike accommodates ¾” latch projections. Its various faceplate options and 1-1/2” cut-out depth accommodates most door frame types and materials. Installation is simple with standard mounting tabs and included fasteners. Crossed wires are never a problem, as the coil is not polarity sensitive. The RCI 4 series centerline strikes are available with an optional 1-1/2 hour fire-rating.
The 2 series are versatile, all-in-one, electric strikes that combine strength and convenience in a sleek design. The RCI F2164 & 2364 strikes feature an adjustable deadbolt keeper and deadlatch ramp allowing them to flexibly work with most locks. The "Saw-tooth Adjustment Locator" makes installation simple. It allows the installer to move the deadbolt keeper, or plug and deadlatch ramp vertically to align with a wide variety of mortise locks with offset latches. It also includes a trim plate to cover up an irregular frame cut-out. Everything you need for the strike is in the box, including a faceplate for centerline latch entry.
The 0563 ½” rim strike is designed slim for tight-fitting installations with Pullman latch rim exit devices. The RCI 0563 has an optional adjustment to expand the strike to ¾” with a spacer. This modern strike utilizes micro-motor technology instead of traditional solenoid to reduce the power needed and draws less than 10 milliamps during operation. The RCI 0563 is field selectable for fail-safe or fail-secure, making it a flexible solution to fit multiple access control situations.
The 6 series centerline strikes are available in standard profile or low-profile options to accommodate different latch projections. This heavy-duty series combines several requested key features. Standard features include a multi-voltage single solenoid, selectable lock mode (no tools necessary), horizontal adjustment, and plug-in wire connectors. ¼” horizontal adjustment makes installations faster and easier. Plus, with the RCI 6 series there will be less pressure on installer’s strike inventory, because these RCI strikes do it all.
The 7 series centerline strikes accommodate 5/8” latch projections with various faceplate options to match most frame types. The RCI 7 series centerline strikes are compatible with a large range of door thicknesses from 1-3/8”-2-3/8”. These strikes function effectively with aluminum, cylindrical, centerline mortise locks, & exit devices. The RCI 7 series allows installers to adjust the strike pivot horizontally up to 1/8” for precise alignment.
The VR165 vertical rod strike is designed for use with vertical rod exit devices with roller latch. This surface mounted strike accommodates 5/8” roller latch. The heavy-duty RCI VR165 is made of high grade stainless steel offering superior keeper strength. The conventional keeper design (one moving part) promotes even load distribution. To prevent vibration manipulation the RCI VR165 has a horizontal solenoid. Lockdown tabs provide a secure mount with HEX socket head cap screws for added support and tamper resistance.
The 12C compact strike is a versatile solution that is suitable for all types for door frames. The RCI 12C strike replaces standard, non-electrified T-strikes with a quick and easy to install electric version. The compact design with dimensions of 1-13/16"W x 2-3/4"H x 1-1/8"D is ideal for wooden, steel, & aluminum door frames.
